OUR LATEST EVENTS:
During this side event, Black migrants / defenders in Europe will discuss their personal experiences with migration, what is happening more broadly in their region, and what solutions Black communities in Europe are seeking.
This virtual event, organised by the UN Antiracism Coalition, aims at providing the International Independent Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in Law Enforcement (EMLER) and OHCHR with a pathway that is grounded in the experiences and perspectives of people on the ground.
Hear from experts (academics and those working directly with communities) about their definitions and thoughts on systemic and structural racism and how the mechanism (EMLER), OHCHR, and the UN as a whole can approach this issue in a way that is effective without defaulting to a narrower discussion about police/state violence and individual cases.
